Commemorative Plaque

Newcastle Waters, Northern Territory

On May 6th 2012, a plaque which recognises the anniversary of Stuart camping at Newcastle Waters and acknowledges the first people of the land will be unveiled in the Drover’s Park.

Organised by Peter Jones, whose family have had generations of involvement in the area, the plaque will be in the form of an open history book. Also located in the Drover’s Park is a magnificent statue of a drover. Together these memorials will help to interpret the area for both locals and the many travellers who visit.

All are welcome. The event begins at 10.00 am and includes entertainment by Ted Egan, who was a former school teacher at Newcastkle Waters, and a sausage sizzle.
