On July 24th 2022, just one day short (actually 161 years later) of the day the men raised the flag on the north coast of Australia, having crossed the continent from south to north, the J McD Stuart Society will hold a multi function event.
Beginning at 1:30 pm at Stuart’s statue, Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga , Adelaide, a Remembrance Ceremony will be held. Following that we will then proceed to the nearby Adelaide Town Hall where Richard Venus will deliver the annual address. He will talk about Sir Charles Todd, the Overland Telegraph Line and the role Stuart played in these projects of national and international significance. This is especially timely as August 22nd 2022 marks the sesquicentenary of the joining of the Overland Telegraph Line.
Our brief AGM will follow and the afternoon will be concluded with a social cup of tea.
All welcome.
