EXCITING OPPORTUNITY
The Stuart Society, in conjunction with the Friends of the State Library of South Australia, is about to realise the dream of publishing Stephen King’s sketches in book form. King was one of Stuart’s Companions on his final and successful expedition from the south to the north coast of Australia.
For many years Stephen King’s sketches have remained hidden from all but a few keen researchers. These charming, simple and accurate representations of John McDouall Stuart’s Great Northern Exploring Expedition of 1861–62 are now being published because they are historically significant as the first European images of the country between Adelaide and Australia’s north coast.
The book is now in the final stages of printing and a release date is planned for the near future.
Ahead of this release, Stuart Society members are now being offered the opportunity to pre-order a copy of the book. There are a number of options for those
interested in purchasing a copy, from a paperback version to a coffee table conversation piece. Prices vary accordingly and full details are contained
in the attached document.
All members are urged to consider purchasing the book, as it will be a limited print run that is likely not to be repeated for quite some time. This of
course, adds to the rarity value of the book, as well as the historical and sentimental value.
Please click on the link below to order (you may have to print the form) and return your order to the Friends of the State Library of SA.
