STOP PRESS

The president, Rick Moore and the committee of the John McDouall Stuart Society Inc. are disappointed to announce the postponement of our 2020 Annual Remembrance Ceremony, Annual General Meeting and Memorial Address due to COVID-19 bans and restrictions placed on public gatherings, and concerns for our members’ health.

We are hopeful these events will occur later this year and will inform you of a new date as soon as we can.

In the meantime, please take care and stay safe.

=================================================

Members and friends are invited to the 55th Annual Remembrance Ceremony, to be held at Stuart’s statue – Victoria Square/Tarndanyangga, Adelaide, on Sunday 19th April 2020 at 1:30 pm.

Immediately following that. the annual John McDouall Memorial Address will be presented by Mr Lennox Pawson OAM. Lennox is a former chief of the Royal Caledonian Society of South Australia, and is active in the local Scottish community. He will discuss the role of Scots in S.A. This will be a fitting address as 2020 celebrates the Year of Scotland. The address will be held in the Flinders St Baptist Church (Mead Hall), 66 Flinders St, Adelaide at 2:15 pm.

Afterwards, the 56th Annual General Meeting of the Stuart Society will be held. All are welcome. Society members, please bring a plate of afternoon tea to share.
